THERE’S MORE THAN ONE WAY TO GET MARRIED

SO… WHAT DOES YOUR KIND OF WEDDING LOOK LIKE?

Maybe it’s everyone you know and love in one place.

Maybe it’s just the two of you and a handful of your favourite people.

Maybe it’s barefoot on a beach, somewhere in the country, at a winery, in your own backyard — or somewhere completely unexpected.

A mountaintop in New Zealand? A country estate in Tuscany? I mean… if you insist. 😜

There are only a handful of things that legally have to happen in an Australian wedding ceremony. The rest? There’s a lot more choice than you might think.

You can keep the traditions you love, leave out the ones that don’t feel like you, and make room for the people and moments that actually matter to you.

And that includes who does the talking.

If there’s someone you’d love to have involved in your ceremony, we can make room for that too.

We’ll work out what feels right for the two of you — and I’ll make sure the important bits happen along the way.

I SUPPOSE I SHOULD INTRODUCE MYSELF…

I’m Tracey — an Authorised Marriage Celebrant based in Noosa on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, although I’m very happy for that little blue dot on the map to move around a bit.

Funnily enough, I became a celebrant because my son didn’t want a stranger marrying him.

When he and his partner were planning their wedding, he asked if I would do it. I pointed out one fairly significant detail.

“Mate, that’s a whole year’s course.”

His response?

“Yeah… that’s okay, isn’t it?”

Apparently it was.

So I did the course, became an Authorised Marriage Celebrant and, in September 2026, had the rather special job of marrying my own son and daughter-in-law.

But somewhere between that first conversation and standing beside them on their wedding day, his simple request planted a much bigger idea.

Because surely he wasn’t the only person who felt that way.

It made me think about ceremonies differently — about who gets to speak, who gets to be involved, what traditions we keep simply because they mean something to us, and which ones we can happily leave behind.

And somewhere along the way, I found the kind of celebrant I wanted to be.

One who can confidently guide the ceremony, hold the space when needed, and know when to hand it over, step aside and let the people who matter to you have their moment too.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not my ceremony. It’s yours.

SO… HOW SHALL WE DO THIS?

There’s more than one way to get married, remember?

Maybe you want me standing up there with you, microphone in hand, leading the whole ceremony.

Maybe there’s someone you love who you’d like me to share that role with.

Maybe twenty guests feels like the perfect size.

Or maybe you’d quite like to skip straight to the legally married part.

All perfectly good ways to do it.

SO… WHAT HAPPENS FROM HERE?

First things first — we have a chat.

You might already know exactly what you want. Or you might have absolutely no idea where to start. Either is perfectly fine.

We’ll have a conversation about what you’re planning, what matters to you, what you’d rather leave out, and who you might like involved. And, just as importantly, we’ll work out whether we’re a good fit.

If we are, brilliant. From there, I’ll guide you through what needs to happen, when it needs to happen, and all the legal bits along the way.

Then we get into the good stuff.

Once we know we’re a good fit, we start shaping the ceremony.

If you already know exactly what you want, great — we’ll work from there. If you’ve got a collection of half-formed ideas, screenshots, things you’ve seen at other weddings, and a very definite list of things you don’t want, that works too.

This is where we work out what stays, what goes, who you’d like involved and how the whole thing is going to come together.

And if you want someone you love to take the microphone for part — or even most — of your ceremony, this is where we make that happen.

As the day gets closer.

We’ll make sure everything is where it needs to be.

By then, your ceremony will have taken shape, the legal paperwork will be sorted, and anyone you’ve chosen to be involved will know exactly what they’re doing.

If someone you love is taking a bigger role in the ceremony, I’ll work with them beforehand too — so they’re not standing there on the day wondering what on earth they’ve agreed to.

You don’t need to remember all the little details.

That’s my job.

Finally… you get married.

This is the bit you’ve been waiting for.

By the time your wedding day arrives, you shouldn’t be thinking about paperwork, what comes next, who needs to stand where, or whether someone has remembered what they’re supposed to say.

I’ll know the plan. The people involved will know the plan.

You two just need to turn up and get married.

And if something doesn’t go quite according to plan? We’ll deal with it.

Chances are, nobody else will even know.

Maybe it’s your dad. Your sister. Your best mate. Someone who has known you forever and already knows the stories worth telling.

Someone who could stand up there and talk about the two of you in a way no stranger ever could.

There’s just one fairly obvious problem.

They’re not a celebrant.

That’s where I come in.

I call it Share the Microphone.

I’ll give the person you choose a clear framework to work from, then guide them as they write the ceremony — helping them shape their stories and ideas into something that flows, sounds like them and feels comfortable to deliver.

Then, on the day, they can take the microphone and deliver part — or even most — of your ceremony, while I’m right there beside them taking care of the legal parts that need to come from me.

They bring the history. I bring the know-how.

Want someone you love to take the microphone?

So… how do you want to get married?

You might know exactly what you want. Or you might still be figuring it out.

Maybe you’ve got half an idea. Maybe all you know is what you definitely don’t want.

Either way, that’s plenty to start with.

Tell me what you’re thinking, where you’re getting married and what sort of day you have in mind.

We’ll take it from there.
